I feel like...

...I've been neglecting this blog a little bit. I thought I would have loads of time soon as it is the october half term, yet I havent seemed to get around to anything. If I wanted an excuse, I could say that on top of the inordimate amount of french coursework I had to learn, I also had work experience For the week in a local wedding dress shop called especially for You. But I don't want an excuse, so thats all right then, isnt it? Back to the work experience then, and I know this will obviously sound biased, but I have to say that if I was getting married now, which I am not (just to clarify) being only 15, I would love to choose my dress there. Carole Hart has run the business for the last ten years, and five years ago her daughter Sandra joined the business. Together they have formed an incredible partnership, and worked hard to help brides all over the country. I loved working for them, even if it was only for a short while, and hope to do some more experience soon. Visit them at http://www.especiallyforyoubridal.co.uk/ or search Especially Bridal on Facebook. Now I need to carry on with this french, I suppose it's not going to learn itself. And by the way Joie_de_vivre_x I have not forgotten the scarves!

Love the way...

... I haven't been able to get on here for a week, mainly because I've been too busy reading Elizabethan novels aboutthe Spanish inquisition :( . Well, I've finished it now so tomorrow I will have loads of time to do my amazing (it will be) piece on silk scarves, which are completely back in fashion. I'm contacting people as we sleek about the jeans for genes pictures, so they will go up tomorrow to. Thank you very much for being patient.

Paris fashion week!

Wow, what a month guys, the Paris fashion shows were absolutely phenominal, and the coverage was great. Some of my personal favourites consist of Alexander McQueen, and Elie Saab, the latter of which definitely stuck in my mind, if not for it's amazing models, then diffinitely for the fact that it drew in two princesses in the form of Princess Beatrice (looking radient in a red Elie Saab dress - after all, it is his show) and Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana! This cause a slight bit of friction, and I'm guessing, but I maybe wrong, that they are not the best of friends.

Anyway, back to the fashion. If this catwalk was anything to go by, next spring is going to be a fabulous one for fashion. It may be a bit depressing outside right now, but on that catwalk it was beauty galore. Jewel tones flooded centre stage, whilst a lot of the designs consisted of feminine, sensual pieces, plenty of flowing tops and lace filled trousers. My personal favourite was this, a beautiful creation. I wonder how much it costs?!There was a large amount of close fitting, curve-showing outfits, that would have looked stunning on anyone, but there were also ones that would only have suited the stick thin. Is this a line I should even start on? Me thinks not. This may sound strange, but hips are definitely in. Curves are good, and the more exentuated waist, the better. It also may be okay for the flat-chested among us. Although plunging necklines are here to stay, the cute high necked Peter pan collars will surely be back with avengence next year, and I cant wait!If I could describe this show's fashion in one word, I have to say it would be floaty. I know, not very specific, but through the corsetted, fitted bodices shined wafting volumious fabric, and sequins, lots of them. A gorgeous show from Saab, but can you expect any less, especially with Anja Rubik starting!

Queen of silks

This isn't onto same theme as my usual posts, but I am an avid reader of historical novels, and the Queen of Silks left a big impression on me. It's about a young woman in the 1480's who is widowed at the age of fourteen, and together with her mother in law she builds a silk trade in the heart of the London selds. She becomes entwined in the royal court, and falls in love with a man who isn't hers to have. This book is a fabulous work of fiction, and the author Vanora Bennett tells the story to perfection. Paperback is only £7.99. Please note that the hardback copy has a slightly different name Figures in Silk. Enjoy!

November vogue- the overview

I've just received my copy of the November edition of vogue, and even I have to admit, it's a bit of a strange one. It's neither summer nor wintery, just busy floating in the middle, definitely not one of my favourite issues. Having said that, the Rihanna interview is almost a work of art. If I were to recommend a piece in the magazine it would be the Rihanna interview. The more dash than cash h and m pullout has some interesting ideas. You never know, this could be fashions new fashion!

Jeans for genes day

As you may already know, this Friday is Jeans for Genes day, and at many schools, this is a chance for pupils to donate money to come to school in Jeans. As a whole though I think we can do better than this. So I propose that as many people as possible buy the Jeans for Genes tshirt, designed specially this year by Lianne Miller from the London college of fashion. The price starts from £11.99 with £1.99 for postage and packaging, so please do your bit by help children living with genetic disorders in the UK and abroad. Thank you. I'll post a picture on Saturday of me and my friends, at school, in Jeans.

Brogues still hanging on

It may still be boiling outside, but in a few weeks thie weather will go back to normal, and we'll all be wearing boots on our feet. But there is an alternative, the modest brogue. Nearly every household in the UK is blessed with a pair now, mainly as they continue to be a staple of the new wardrobe. They don't have to be expensive either. My beloved pair only cost me £19.99 from New Look, and I could live in them, so price obviously doesn't matter.
Of course, if you're willing to spend I touch more, by that I mean about £200 more, then a few of the best brogue designers, including the well known Grensons, are probably the best choice to go for, as they can guarantee comfort along with feminine style. They most important thing when it comes to shoes is being able to look at them with pride. Remember, money doesn't eliminate the possibility of blisters!

Hello Blogspot

Well, as I'm new to this, and I can safely guarantee that no one will read this, I can probably write anything I want. So here goes, my first post, about absolutely nothing.
